Amber Chand Receives Prestigious VDAY Award For Her Work With Women in Conflict Regions

Vagina Warrior Award 2007 Given By Eve Ensler's V-Day Global Campaign
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Saturday, February 24th, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at the Hotel Viking on historic Bellevue Avenue in Newport, V-Day Newport 2007 will be hosting a press event to honor Amber Chand, survivor of Idi Amin's Uganda, and President and Founder of The Amber Chand Collection.

Ms. Chand will be presented the VAGINA WARRIOR AWARD during a benefit production of Eve Ensler's play "The Vagina Monologues" at the Hotel Viking as part of V-DAy (www.vday.org). She is being honored for using her lift to better the lives of women in conflict zones around the world. This year's focus of V-Day events around the world are women and children as survivors of war, and Ms. Chand is the ideal recipient for her passion in action - a woman who is using her life to make the world a better place.

Amber Chand is a mother, peacebuilder, entrepreneur and global citizen. Born of East Indian parents in Uganda she became a refugee when she had to flee her country as a young woman during the tyrannical rule of Idi Amin Dada. She has lived in the United States for 30 years and dedicated her life to supporting women in vulnerable regions of the world.
